Courtney Conner Stringer Named Director of Engagement for Wellspring Foundation of Southwest Virginia

ABINGDON, Va., July 17, 2023 — The Wellspring Foundation of Southwest Virginia has appointed Courtney Conner Stringer as the new Director of Engagement. As the Director of Engagement, Stringer will be responsible for fostering relationships with local, regional, and state partners, as well as providing comprehensive grant training and development.

“We are thrilled to welcome Courtney to our team,” said Sean McMurray, Executive Director of the Wellspring Foundation of Southwest Virginia. “Her extensive experience in relationship building and grant management, along with her robust network of regional contacts, will play a vital role in enhancing the health and wellbeing of our neighbors throughout our service region.”

Over the past 18 years, Stringer has held various roles at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise, where her focus included community development, entrepreneurship, professional growth, and collaborative coworking. Stringer most recently served as the college’s Director of Community & Business Development for the Office of Administration, Government Relations & Strategic Initiatives. That valuable experience will greatly contribute to the Wellspring Foundation’s mission of addressing the collective health needs of Washington, Grayson, Russell, and Smyth counties.

Stringer holds a bachelor’s degree from UVA Wise and a Master of Business Administration from King University. She currently resides in Abingdon, Virginia, with her husband and two children. As a native of the area, she is passionate about improving the quality of life in Southwest Virginia.
