Wellspring Foundation Welcomes Attorney Ramesh Murthy to Board of Directors

Abingdon, Va., August 12, 2025 — The Wellspring Foundation of Southwest Virginia is pleased to announce the appointment of Ramesh Murthy, a seasoned attorney and partner at Hancock, Daniel & Johnson, P.C., to its Board of Directors. With more than 30 years of experience specializing in workers’ compensation and employment law, Mr. Murthy has built a distinguished career. He has been recognized annually by Best Lawyers in America since 2005 and consistently named to the Virginia Super Lawyers list from 2008 to 2021, and again in 2023 and 2025.

Before joining Hancock Daniel, Murthy was a partner with Penn, Stuart & Eskridge, where he represented employers in human resources matters, including employment law compliance, workplace investigations and litigation defense. He currently serves as general counsel for the Virginia Self Insurers Association, was a founding member of the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Inns of Court and has previously chaired the Employment Law section of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys.

A native of Southwest Virginia, Ramesh remains deeply rooted in his community. He is active on the Board of Trustees for Barter Theatre and formerly served on the boards of Sullins Academy, William King Museum of Art and the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, where he also held the role of president. Educationally, he earned a Bachelor of Arts from King University and a Juris Doctor from the TC Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond.
